One another....

I read this bookmark quotation and felt very encouraged.

-       Let us meet with one another (Heb 10:25)

-       Let us encourage one another (Heb10: 25)

-       Forgive one another (Col 3:13)

-       Build one another up (Rom 15:2; 1Thess5:11)

-       Serve one another in love (Gal 5:13)

-       Bear one another’s burden (Gal 6:2)

-       Be kind and compassionate to one another (Eph 4:32)

-       Love one another (Rom 12:10)

-       Have equal concern for one another (1Cor 12:25)

-       Offer hospitality to one another (1 Pet 4: 9)

-       Administer God’s kindness to one another (1Pet 4:10)

-       Pray for each other (James 5:16)

It is an amazing feeling when we lift our eyes onto others, somehow life makes more sense.

Prayer Space - Creating a prayer space is personal and individual.

It is a place where you can slow down and connect with your inner self.  It’s a place where meaningful memorabilia and personal belongings, help release tension and help you find stillness. It is here you can sit in front of Jesus, like Mary and find comfort and solace. (Luke10:38-42) It’s like having your own little sanctuary at home.

Simply, it is a room or an area set aside for reflection, contemplation and prayer. If you don’t have space or a room, use an item of beauty (natural or otherwise) like - like a candle, a flower, a special cushion or a small wooden cross - to draw your focus and quieten your heart.

Prayer time - The next thing is to make a regular time to sit, slow down and be there. Half an hour is a good start.

Here are some books that helped me get started that might help you.

·         Prayer - EM Bounds

·         The Circle Maker – Mark Batterson

·         The Scared Year – Michael Yankoski

·         The Attentive Life – Leighton Ford

·         The Bible

Having a journal to write down your prayers, draw how you feel or record your answered prayers will be of help.

Praying for your work place....

Generally speaking this doesn’t seem to be a valid prayer point; but nearly all of us reading this either are either working ourselves and/or have husbands who work in the market-place. Market-place doesn’t mean business only, but professions, trade, law, government, industry, sport, arts and Mums at home…the whole gambit. I feel it is a very important prayer point because most of us are involved, be it paid or unpaid…in work.

A working day doesn’t start when you walk into the office, it starts when you wake up.

  • Start by thanking God for the job you have and  what you receive form it
  • If your work place is not the best consider praying this verse

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Colossian 3:23

Read it slowly three times; stop and pause after each time, reflect and write what comes to you - a note book or journal is handy.

Other ways to pray for your workplace; to be salt and light -

  • Ask God to bless all the individuals who are a part of the enterprise.
  • Pray to “ to speak in love” during the day.
  • Take 5 minutes to pray before any meetings. Pray to be focused, relevant and with an eternal perspective.
  • Pray for the financial health of your work-place and for those who make important stewardship decisions. If your work-place does well, you will continue to have your job.
  • At lunch time – do a prayer walk around your facility, inside or out; ask God to bless the products or services your work delivers, pray for safety of everyone
  • When  difficulties arise, stop and ask God for a solution
  • Find and meet regularly with like-minded people. Maybe, have a regular prayer meeting
  • In times of job uncertainty, pray not to be taken by the spirit of fear or anxiety, but of trust and confidence. Pray through Psalm 91
  • If you hear of colleagues losing their jobs, pray for their peace and provision
  • Thank God for the cleaners who empty the bins, clean floors and bathrooms in your work place
  • When you receive your pay - thank God for His provision and pray to be a good steward over what He has given you
  • As you finish for the day, pray for the travelling mercies of your co-workers, the safety of their families and your own.
