We have just taken stock of paper bead necklaces and earrings from a new business called Afribeads.

“Afribeads are made by a group of 30 women in Kampala,  Uganda called the Kind Mother’s Project. This group is working to protect vulnerable kids who roam the street. These children are from impoverished families who can’t afford to send their children to school. By providing a market for their beautiful products, Afribeads give the women the opportunity to care for their own families.

Afribeads are individually made from strips of recycled paper, cut into triangles and rolled into beads, then varnished, before being made into unique and gorgeous jewellery.

Afribeads is trying to help the Ugandan people a bead at a time.”

The earring beads are varied, exotic and colourful.

This pair of earrings features 2 beads. One in rose bush leaf green, with the round bead, in muted rose pinks. The two set together give an unusual lantern shape.
