Manik's Story

In 1994 Maniks family had fallen on hard times. He had been unemployed for some time. He felt helpless as his ability to send his children to school and take care of any sickness was fast slipping through his fingers. At this time, Manik’s brother reported that there were jobs going at Heed. Manik snapped up this opportunity where he now works as a handloom weaver. A little later Mrs Manik joined him at Heed, as a spinner, and they are now able to support there family well. Manik said “We praise Almighty God that Heed employed us but most of all that the wages are fair and that it is a peaceful place to work, without discrimination. We have left behind our helplessness!”
